Al Reinert is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He co-wrote the screenplays for Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 (1995), dramatising the abortive lunar mission of 1970, and the Japanese-American computer-animated science fiction film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001), but is best known for having directed and produced For All Mankind, a documentary using NASA footage from the Apollo moon shots of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1989 the film won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as an International Documentary Association Award.
